For some, Oliver, better known as ONYVA, isn’t a new face. Since reemerging onto the scene at the start of 2017, the ON IT Recordings boss has been topping the Beatport charts like no other with releases on Red Lunar, Phonetic Recordings, and has even recently joined the Cr2 Records family.
It was back in 1992 when Oliver caught his first glimpse of the electronic world at the mere age of 13, stumbling across the legendary 808 State show on Sunset 102 in Manchester. This journey of enlightenment took him through the rave scene of the early 90s. After years of discovery and experimenting, ONYVA was able to carefully curate his own distinctive, signature blend of techno and tech-house, which can be heard in all his offerings. Exploring all forms of sound across the entire electronic music spectrum has resulted in a unique and versatile approach both on and off stage.
“This is Fire” – Mix Mag
Carving out his own niche in the techno and tech-house sphere, ONYVA’s unique sound has already attracted some of the scene’s greatest pioneering forces including Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Popof, Richy Ahmed, Roger Sanchez, Huxley, Nic Fanciulli, Latmun, Riva Starr, Justin Jay, Timo Mass, Dennis Ferrer, Pirupa, Solardo, Camelphat, Jacky, Skream, De La Swing, Yousef, Lee Walker, Harry Romero, Justin Martin, Joris Voorn, Steve Lawler, Gorgon City, Paco Osuna, Marco Carola, Huxley, Roger Sanchez, Leon, Mark Knight, Lane 8, and more.
“Sounding like the big crossover smash of the summer” – DMC World Magazine
ONYVA has had a strong string of releases and EPs out this year including his massive tech-house cut ‘Tibetan People’, which made the Beatport Techno front page and is included in Toolroom Records’ Ibiza 2017 Vol.2 compilation, which has climbed to #10 in the Top 100 Beatport Releases. Staying true to his label’s ethos, the ON IT Recordings head-honcho generated a monster remix package with Jey Kurmis, Funkagenda, Barber, and The Vibe Killers on remix duty. Other major releases include ‘Drop this like a Boulder’ on Phonetic records, which gained major traction amongst the electronic music circuit, and of course his ‘Our Unity’ EP on Jacky’s Red Luna Records, tying the release together with an acid-induced club cut ‘Let’s Go Acid’.
“The rock-solid beats and tight percussive loops skillfully build with an immediately identifiable, rhythmic tribal vocal as a big rolling bass line lifts the groove and indeed the track to next level club vibes. ‘Tibetan People’ is a memorable club heater with all the right elements to make it the main room mainstay across the White Isle this summer and beyond.”
ONYVA’s most recent offerings ‘Square One‘ and ‘Al Dente’ on Rob Roar’s Night & Day in Ibiza compilation [Phonetic Recordings] have recently climbed to #9 on the Progressive House chart and #10 on the House chart.
“A must have signing for the phonetic label after our Head honcho Rob Roar dropped ‘Square One’ to 6k people in the Thailand Jungle.” – Phonetic Recordings
Through his driving, hypnotic soundscapes, ONYVA produces an original style of groovy techno and tech-house with which he takes the audience on a deep experimental journey. With a wealth of forthcoming material on the horizon, Oliver is set to build an incredible success for the rest of the year.
