Diynamic Showcase Ibiza @ DC-10 in review

Located in a refurbished finca [farmhouse] at the end of Ibiza’s airport runway, lies a techno sanctuary which has been a staple of the White Isle since 1999. DC-10 is home to the world-renowned Circoloco parties [every Monday] and Jamie Jones’ Paradise [every Wednesday]. On Friday, July 14th, the legendary club opened its doors exclusively for a very special one-off; Diynamic Showcase Ibiza. This meant that for one night only this season, the entire Diynamic family would make their way to the White Isle to take over the legendary venue for a night – and morning – of relentless, melodic house and techno goodness. And with each artist preparing an extra special set for the occation, we knew we were in for something extraordinary.

As soon as you walk into DC-10, you can immediately feel the magic in the air, the warm atmosphere, and history. For this Ibiza club, it’s not about the hype, decor, production, dancers; less is more and this has been the core vision since its humble beginnings.

Upon entering the Main Room, spotlights of red lit up the gigantic DC-10 sign hanging high above. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with nationalities from all corners of the world dancing together in harmony; connected through the power of music. Karmon played an array of minimalistic numbers as guests first entered the room, searching for some space on the dancefloor to get warmed up for the night.

Next up was Undercatt who had the crowd moving non-stop with their tantalizing build-ups and melodic, techy rhythms. Sharp blue lights cut through the ceiling, honing in on the crowd and gliding through every percussion. The darkness enclosing in on the room created an industrial warehouse vibe that set the tone for the night.

Meanwhile, in the room adjacent, there was a darker, grittier sound that fulfilled the iconic Terrace, otherwise known as the Red Room. Glowing pink blocks that read Diynamic hung from the ceiling above like little techno clouds whilst we lost ourselves in the final moments of Lehar’s tantalizing mix. Stepping into the booth next was Johannes Brecht who delivered an impressive live set to the Terrace masses.

Swiss-duo Adriatique would overtake the decks next. This mighty duo was hands down one of the best performances of the night, inflicting their emotive driving techno to the red glowing masses. Through minimalistic and extraterrestrial soundscapes, we reached techno abyss during Adriatique’s flawless journey of sounds. The perfect warm-up to get us prepared for the man of the night, Solomun.

And in what felt as only a blink of an eye, the Terrace was rammed from back to front as the crowd was heaving into each and every crevice of the dancefloor. You could feel the anticipation climax as the Diynamic boss stepped from behind the Swiss pair and prepared to lay down his first track of the night; this was the moment everyone had been waiting for. They don’t call him ‘Solo-the-man’ for nothing.

Kicking off with a dramatic, cinematic build-up, the Diynamic boss had the crowd eating out of the palms of his hands. Once the bass kicked in, the DJ booth lit up and the crowd went crazy. Driving us through the night with his forward thinking house and techno, Solomun showed us once more why he one of the scene’s most beloved artists. With every Solomun set you don’t just hear the music, you feel it, through every inch of your body; eyes closed, hands in the air, emotions flowing as the rapid BPMs burst through the Function-One system.

We wanted to catch a glimpse of Magdelena before her set finished, so we squeezed through the congested Terrace and on over to the Main Room. Magdelena delivered a set so sonic, it drifted the crowd into another dimension, but was able to get us back on point once Kollektiv Turmstrasse was about to take the stage for a superb live set. Doing the honours of closing out the Main Room in style is none other than HOSH. With his infectious selection of techno tunage that kept the party going strong until the very end.

Seeing the entire Diynamic family is always a treat, as it’s not your ordinary club night out. For those who were there, you know what we mean. Together under one roof, they have the power to open a door into an unforeseen dimension representing all forms of minimalist, emotive soundscapes. During our stay on the White Isle, we can vouch for this event to be the best show we went to for music, location, and price (overall cash spend). Hats off to Adriatique and Solomun for best sets of the night. If you missed out on this season’s Diynamic Showcase Ibiza, this is your fair warning for next year.
